Pasquale is a Senior Researcher at the InfraScience Laboratory of the Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione A. Faedo (ISTI) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He holds an M.Sc. in Information Systems Technolodiggies (1998) and a PhD in Information Engineering (2006), both from the University of Pisa.
His research centers on distributed Virtual Research Environments (VREs) powered by Grid and Cloud e-infrastructures. With a strong background in distributed architectures, he has contributed to the design of major distributed systems and e-infrastructure middleware developed at ISTI-CNR.
He is currently the Technical Director of D4Science, the Hybrid Data Infrastructure serving more than 23,000 scientists in 84 countries, and chief manager of gCube software, the open-source platform for managing and operating scientific data infrastructures. He also continues to collaborate with the iMarine initiative for fisheries management and the conservation of marine living resources.
